VIKING INSPIRED AXE

Viking inspired wood splitting axe created from high carbon steel, veg tan leather and Hickory wood.

As a refreshing break from being a prop maker, this axe is fully functional tool. The axe head is created from High carbon steel, profiled into a modern take on the bearded axe. The axe head has been electro etched with the norse vegvisir and has been sharpened for wood splitting.

Custom dies were created to emboss the veg tan leather grips before they were wet formed around the handle and axe head. The grips were then hand dyed to the desired colour before being hand stitched around the form of the axe handle.

The axe handle itself was hand carved from Hickory wood before being stained and united with the axe head.
