1:8 SCALE G&L ASAT BASS REPLICA
1:8 Scale model of the iconic G&L ASAT bass guitar for a private commission. Every detail from the full-size guitar is faithfully reproduced in miniature including machine heads, tone knobs, pickups, frets and the high gloss blue burst finish. Made from ash and maple as it is on its full-size counterpart.

Four different gauges of stainless steel wire are used for the strings. Tiny tone switches were created and measure a mere 1.5mm at their widest point.
Each machine head was hand filed from stainless steel.
Every detail from the full-size guitar is faithfully recreated including branding and trademarks on the headstock.
21 stainless steel frets were painstakingly recessed into the neck along with 9 black acrylic fret markers.
This piece was produced as decoration for the client and was framed behind glass to avoid accidental damage and dust.
The finished tailpiece for the miniature was crafted from 8 individual pieces of stainless steel.
Talking to Martin Whilst working alongside him, he revealed his experience in design for the motor industry, and also revealed in conversation, that he built 1/8 scale model guitars. As an owner of a vintage G&L ASAT bass, I requested a replica from Martin and forwarded photos of my bass to Martin for reference. When I received the replica, it was perfect in every single detail, the colour, the handmade bridge and machine heads, strings, pickups, and even the decals, and far exceeded my expectations.
